Karen Baldeschwieler, Ph.D.

Karen has dedicated her entire career to education, focusing on models that improve learning options for at-risk student populations. She believes that technology and media can be used to improve motivation and expand access to higher education.

Karen is in charge of academic program operations for UniversityNow. Previously, Karen served as VP Strategy at Kaplan, Inc, where she spearheaded the launch of Kaplan University and as VP Learning for Kaplan Higher Education Campuses, where she developed a media-rich blended program for a 60-campus system of career colleges. She has served in diverse academic leadership roles ranging from Chief Operating Officer of a group of child care centers to Chief Academic Officer of a film and media college.

Karen holds a BA from Harvard University, an MA from University of California at Irvine, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Ph.D. in Education from Capella University.
